A Blue Removal emulator is a separate electronic module installed on the machine. On compatible applications, the hardware communicates with the existing control network without requiring conventional modification of the engine ECU software.
ECU remapping, by comparison, involves modifying software or calibration data stored inside an electronic control unit.

9. Can a DEF Emulator Help with Limp Mode or Engine Derate?
If the derate is being caused specifically by a supported DEF/SCR-system fault, the correct emulator may allow the machine to operate without the original SCR system generating the same inducement condition.
However, not every limp-mode condition is caused by the DEF system. Engine, fuel, transmission, DPF and other faults can also reduce power.

10. Does a DEF Delete Emulator Remove Existing Fault Codes?
A Blue Removal emulator is designed to provide the expected signals for the supported SCR application, but historical or unrelated diagnostic codes may still need to be cleared using the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
Severe inducement countdown conditions can behave differently from simple sensor faults, so providing active diagnostic trouble codes when inquiring ensures an accurate hardware recommendation.
11. Do I Still Need to Put DEF / AdBlue in the Tank?
On applications where the DEF/SCR system is being fully emulated, the original dosing system is no longer relied upon in the same way for normal electronic operation.
The exact installation procedure varies by engine and machine, so follow the instructions supplied with your specific emulator.
12. Does a DEF Emulator Delete the DPF?
No. DEF/SCR and DPF are separate parts of the emissions-control system.
A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) captures particulate matter or soot from the exhaust. A Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system uses DEF / AdBlue as part of the process used to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.

13. Does a DEF Emulator Delete the EGR?
No. Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) is another separate emissions-control system.

Returning the complete machine to its original emissions configuration may also require any disconnected or faulty original SCR components to be reconnected, repaired or replaced.
17. Will a DEF Delete Emulator Improve Fuel Economy?
A DEF emulator should not be purchased as a fuel-saving device.
Its purpose is to address the supported SCR/DEF system electronically. Fuel consumption depends on many factors including engine load, machine condition, operator behaviour, working environment and the original engine calibration.
The main operational benefit for most users is avoiding downtime associated with the supported DEF/SCR fault rather than expecting a specific fuel-economy increase.
18. Will a DEF Delete Emulator Increase Engine Power?
A standard DEF emulator is not an engine-performance tuning device.
If a machine has lost power because an SCR fault has triggered an emissions-related derate, resolving that specific condition may allow normal machine operation to return. That is different from increasing the engine’s factory-rated power.
19. Can a DEF Emulator Fix a Bad NOx Sensor?
NOx sensor faults are among the problems associated with SCR systems. On compatible applications, the emulator can provide the electronic information expected by the system instead of relying on the original SCR sensor arrangement.
Compatibility must still be confirmed because NOx sensor configurations and communications vary between engines.
